09Avoid Work At Home Scams in 5 Simple Steps
Filed in: Home Based Business by Jim Sax on 12-09-09So many people are getting scammed these days by phony business opportunity offers and work at home jobs. It does take more time to research these companies but in the long run you will be better off and you will still have your wallet and your identity in tact. It only takes five simple steps to learn about the opportunities that you’re interested in.
1. Investigate the company. Search work at home forums on the internet and search them for what other people are saying about the job or the business. Find out as much as possible about the company including where it is located etc. Take notes to compare between those that you like later on.
2. How much does it cost? If it’s a work at home job, then it should be totally free, if it’s not free, don’t consider it. If it’s a business opportunity there can sometimes be costs or fees associated with joining a company like this, but there are plenty of free ones out there as well that are much more likely to be genuine. So for the sake of being extra careful, if the opportunity you’re considering has any type of fee…only consider joining if it also offers a free membership level where you have the option of upgrading to a higher fee based level later on, after you are satisfied that the opportunity is a good one.
3. Ignore the hype. Just about everything we see these days is hyped up a little bit, its advertising. We need to dig a little deeper and get the claimed facts and address those while avoiding the fluff.
4. Ask them questions. What support will there be, is there training available, how are you to be paid, what are the expectations of you, etc. Don’t be shy, write down your concerns and make sure each of them in addressed before you commit yourself.
5. Be informed about other scams. You probably know that envelope stuffing is a scam, but there are other things out there to watch out for. Paying fees for processing claims, rebates, doing data entry are all likely scams. Chain letters and overseas shipment scams are very popular too. Anyone telling you that you can make lots of money easily and quickly is lying to you and trying to take your money, avoid them all.
People fall in to all sorts of scams and you can avoid them by following a set of criteria like these 5 keys. You have probably seen much of this information before but it might help to see it in an organized way. I have used this information to help me in my personal search for a legitimate business opportunity and I hope that it helps you in your search.
